What Is Surrogacy?
Just 2 years ago I didn't
know what it was. I got home and saw that there was a party going on. I had no
idea what it was for and who the people were. My dad told me to sit down. He
told me that my step mom was going to have a baby for some people. I didn't
understand. He tried to explain, but I was confused. I didn't know what to say.
He got up and left to join the party. I didn't go back to the party though. I
went to my room and threw myself on the bed and cried.
Then my step mom (Cori) came in the room. She was with a beautiful women that I
had never seen before. The women was named Laurie. She was the lady that Cori
was going to have the baby for. They sat down and we talked for a long time.
They wanted to know why I was crying. The major reason was because I was scared
and was afraid that my dad would not pay attention to me as much. They told me
that that would not happen and everything would be O.K.
I got to know Laurie and I discovered that she is a open minded, understanding
and sweet person. Little did I know that this would have a huge impact on my
life. They went through the procedures and Cori got pregnant. It was a time of
excitement and happiness. Laughter and tears of joy and happiness were to be
expected for months and years to come.
I really feel lucky being a part of something like this. I learned and
experienced things most kids my age or of any would never experience. Out of
this whole thing I got to meet a wonderful couple and I even got two little boys
that may as well be my cousins. I love Laurie, Mark, Austin, and Garrett with
all my heart. I will always have a special place in my heart and memory for
them. Thank you Laurie and Mark for being the people you are. Though without
Cori none of this would have happened. I admire her for this and will always
look at her as a mom and someone who created a miracle. I feel special because
of their actions. I think that this was a great experience and others should
experience it.
